For OVER 20 years my husband and I avoided multi-level marketing companies like the plague. Not because we didn’t appreciate some of the products; nor, because we didn’t see the earning potential (because TRUST me when I say, some of our patients that started in these companies earned far more than we could ever imagine); but because we didn’t want to be biased in the clinic when recommending vitamins, supplements, skincare, etc.
But now, I am on-my-own! I don’t have a clinic associated with my name. And, I have spent an inordinate amount of time and years following myriads of successful direct marketing companies such as: Arbonne, Herbalife, Advocare, Young Living Essential Oils, Isagenix, Shaklee, … and many many more. I have seen and heard the best and the worst.
Let me tell you. I have respect for many of these companies, and high-esteem for the representatives I personally know. But, I also do not get too excited over any one company. Just like a good restaurant, each one of them has their faults, but also a few dishes or more with outstanding attributes.
Early this summer I signed on (privately) after falling in love with the mission behind Beauty Counter. Let me clarify, that I have been using nontoxic beauty products for over a decade or so. Beauty Counter did NOT START this phenomenon. But, they clearly knew how to drive a business and take this movement to the next level.
For years we carried earth and skin-friendly nontoxic beauty and skincare lines in the clinic. Our second room had shelves of nontoxic creams, shampoos, conditioners, baby soaps – you name it! We understood and tried to educate our patients along the way. For people that lived close to a Whole Foods or similar, we would recommend products from Dr. Hauschka, Weleda, or Burts Bees (pre-Target.)
So, why even bother with Beauty Counter? Well, obviously it’s because I was thrilled with not only the few products that I used, but because they have the money and drive behind the movement to improve the beauty industry’s standard in the US. What I truly appreciate is the ease with which a larger company can not only educate the public, but also the convenience of online shopping and to be honest, the “pretty bottles.” I won’t even begin to discuss some of the packaging choices (let alone names!) of a couple of our previous vendors.
At a future date I will share some of my favorites from the Beauty Counter line…and, some of my LEAST favorites. Because, as you see, I am brutally honest. And, even though I now am a “consultant” that doesn’t mean I am a cheerleader for each item. If you want a safe bet for gifts I’d encourage you to pick-up the: Kids Bath Collection, Baby Gift Set, the Lip Sheers (promo today) or my ABSOLUTE fav – the Naughty to Nice Gift Set. The Naughty to Nice Gift Set is the charcoal purifying mask and bar of soap. I am obsessed with all things charcoal…seriously works…blog post about the benefits of charcoal at a future time!
Note: If you want to “sign-up” or buy products under my name, just put in “Jess Alenov” as your consultant (after you follow the link to the main site) and it will bring you to my personal BC site – then you can email me questions from there as well!
Love and Light to each of You!
